Default ses light. what do these code mean?

so my service engine light came on and i had two codes when i scanned it. i got p0327 and p1174. i know the first is something about a knock sensor but not to sure about the second. what would cause these to come on? have not come back on yet. it happened when i was accelerating on the highway to pass someone. thanks
john

p0327 means "Knock sensor 1 circuit low input" which means that your vehicle is'nt getting a reading from your driver's side knock sensor. I had the SAME exact code on my vehicle. I later found out that it had come unplugged from the Knock Sensor. If you go underneath your vehicle, it's between the two center cylinders on the side of the engine. It will look like this:

The 2nd code (p1174) means that Bank 2, your passenger side, is running too rich. And yes, I had the SAME exact code on mine as well. Once i fixed my knock sensor, i cleared my codes, and it hasn't shown up since.

When my knock sensor was acting up, my vehicle went off of 'closed loop' fueling and went to a constant 'open loop' fueling, which i'm pretty sure is what caused my bank 2 to run too rich.

I agree with the last post and also wanted to ask, what octane gas are you using, cheap or low octane gas can mess with the knock sensor some times.

It is rare to see a Rover knock sensor fail, if it comes back you need to have someone with a good scanner read the signals from both and see what shows up.
Let us know what happens.
What are you doing about your rich run on bank 2? Check for any vacuum leaks. Also what type of air filter are you running paper, or K&N and how often do you change it, cause a filter issue can throw the beginning of a MAF fault which will cause banks to run lean or rich along with a few other issues.
