Location of Vents
Hello,
I just got my Discovry series2 and have some questions about the location of the vents.
Can anyone tell me where the following are vented to:
1. Transmission
2. Transfer case
3. Rear Axle
4. Front axle
On my way out to camp we pass through water sometimes up to 40+ inches deep. I don't want to get any water in any of my drive train.
I am ordering a snorkel and am wondering if i need to snorkel the vents also.
Thank you!

I would download the rave manual if you haven't already. I don't really know where everything vents to but you can look it up here... http://green-oval.com/joomla/index.p...d=13&Itemid=29
Edit: I have heard of people extending the breather lines up into the A pillar but I don't know if they ran it through the snorkle or just up the pillar... Actually I believe it was Urban Panzer that I read had done that. Here is his site http://www.discovery2.co.uk/

If you hit water past the hubs, plan on changing the fluids. A hot driveline will suck water in through the seals. The tranny and Xfer case are sealed. If you want to extend you axle vents, look where the connect at the top of the axle and folllow them up.
If you are in 40in water regularly, then definitely purchase a wading kit. The breathers are extremely easy to install, and you can get a set for under $50 bucks. And to reiterate the above, transmission & transfer case are sealed, so it's just your axles you need to vent. Longside of the axles top, about midway between the hub and differential...
