My 2001 landrover disco 2 is locked. The battery is dead. I called the local Pop a lock. In fact the person who founded Pop a lock came to help. He is a great friend of mine. After 8 hours and 5 of his techs we couldn't get in. I saw a video about charging through the starter wire. Didn't work. So I thought to change the windshield, old one was cracked.. the guy comes out only to tell me he needs to get inside.
So I decided to break the cheapest window. The left rear door window was only $90
I'll be breaking it tomorrow to gain entrance, then Pop the hood to change the battery. Then to the glass shop to have new window installed
There is no solenoid or anything else in the cable to prevent power from reaching the battery from the terminal on the starter marked 6 in the picture below.
Connecting the positive lead from a jumper cable or jump pack to the terminal on the starter and the negative cable to any good ground should power the BCU to allow the keyless entry handset (fob) to work, if it was working before.
Finally, I popped the rear left door window, I had pre taped the outside and the inside was tinted. So using a center punch. Made a hole pulled the whole window out.
but as someone else had commented, the doors were double locked. So climbed into front seat, pull the hood latch, climb back out the window, open the hood, change the battery, it was completely Dead. Hook up cables, horn blows, unlock with the Fob.
Finally all good
Heading to glass shop tomorrow.
I'm going to be selling my Landy next year.
