I think you'll find that DOT approval is for manufactures not end users. There has been a number of threads on a number of boards about this (aftermarket parts not being DOT approved) but in the hundreds and hundreds of posts there is not a single person who i have ever seen got in any kind of (legal) issue with non marked DOT parts. Now weather are are as good or up to the DOT standard is another question all together.

Regardless of that, 125L its is just over 33 US gallons.

if its an overseas part/accessory/mod, and is TUV certified/approved, then as long as its installed properly, that will exceed DOT standards.
