Misinformation...
The locating dowel pins for the front cover where misaligned, placing stress on the pump housing which could lead to failure. The pumps themselves where not faulty. Sorry for being technical, but there is a difference. Not all 2003s have a problem and not all have failed, so it is not a given.

ahhh cool that's good to know Bundu. That actually makes more sense. If it were a bad pump Rover could of just recalled it maybe.

I would be looking for a low mileage 2004 or 1999 DII or even a 1999 DI. Actually with what you are saying I would be looking for a used subaru.

From what you wrote my advice is run away from land rovers and never look back.

Beat advice you will ever get...i love my volvo..s40 its the best... run like you wher running with the bulls in spain...

i have a 98 S70 T5M and have put obnoxious amounts of money into it. That is why im looking forward to a 2nd vehicle that its great in the snow, dirt, hauling, as well as id drive it year around
Here is whats left but remember it has to be 2003 + & 4wd & decent shape/miles

Nissan Frontier - can only find pointless 2x4
Toyota Tacoma - run forever so noone sells
Ford F250 - its a good truck in all honesty just hate the whole F150 "got a REAL truck" crowd...

basically its back to BMW Xi's & audi Allroads as much as i want something that can handle the mud, snow, & whatever else i wanna put it through

They're not all bad, just some of them are. Poor maintenance is their down fall, a well maintained vehicle will be a good buy. That is a low mileage single owner car, if you can get service records out of the dealer that shows a good service history then chances are you will get a good one.
The 2003 with the oil pump issues where limited to the VIN range of 3A771801 to 3A808362.

there is a 03 Disco @ a DKY Honda in VA that was a 1 owner & stuff but it has 101k or 109k & wants 9k for it... according to KBB thats a bit high... but also i never thought to check on it because i saw one with 69k for less (but i called & they didnt have service record) so i was going to call the dealer ships on the carfax & see if there was any records that i could get from it... Im going to have to keep my eyes open but in all honesty is people right off the bat say that they are a hassle its kinda a turn off because this would be mt 51% of the time driver aka DD plus i NEED it in winter because my volvo isnt an option... my jeep died in febuary...
