Default Looking at a 97 discovery, advice please.

Hello all, I searched the threads but every thread I came across with people asking this question were all dealing with Discos that had 90k + on them. I recently found a 1997 Disco 2 Se from a dealer for An amazing price with an original 60k miles on the odometers, its a California car as well so there's the deed benefit of not having to worry about too much heavy weather damage. I've always really liked so much about lr's and the gas mileage didn't bother me so much as the maintenance costs, but I'm wondering if this 60k would be safe assuming that I actually take care of her and not just lit her break down,

I've been reading here and I do understand the costs of disco, and whille I am weighing my options of having the car Id really like and dealing with maintenance, I'm wondering if many of these horror stories are just because people buy with many high miles? I have a friend who's a mechanic and has a garage back home from where we live, so not only could he help in the 60k maintenance, but I could also learn some of the maintenance work from him, which I am more than willing to do.

I figure I'd here it from you alls mouths and see what you had to say as this community seems pretty honest and helpful. I still plan to go check it out tomorrow morning, any suggestions on what I should look for? I plan on taking it too a mechanic in the area as well.

Thanks, I appreciate it.

Is it a '97?
You said its a '97 Disco 2.
The DII came out later '99, up until then was the DI.
We need to know which one it is.

You need to run very far from a 1997 D2...

Oh wow, sorry about that guys, my inexperience is shining right now heh. It's a discovery, 1997, I was just being hasty and must have glanced over. Guess I should make another thread on that board, don't really wanna spam though so if any disco 2 owners knows about the disco 1 just let me know if you have a sec, thanks all and sorry about that.

D1 is simpler than a D2, less hassles and the engines are generally speaking better.
If you view the threads on the D2 section you will see many stories about blown head gaskets and over heated engines, electrical gremlins and broken stuff. In the D1 section they talk about the weather and swap pancake recipes, boring crowd over there
