Looking at '98 Disco
Hey guys, I'm new to this forum but I have a quick question. I came across a '98 Discovery in the Classified section of the newspaper today. It's being sold for $8,800.TheDisco has 103,000 miles on itandI can't figure out whyit is being sold for so much.Hopefully I can take a look at it soon and see why it's going for so much. Until then, however, what are the problems I need to be on the lookout for in a '98 Discovery? I'd imagine rust and burning up oil are somewhat common but what else can I take a look at? Btw, the Discovery isa loaded "LE." Correct me if I'm wrong butis thatthe middle package between SE and LSE?
Thanks again,

.LSE is the top line model.
Where are you located, the price seems a little high fo a 98. I have a person who just bought a 99 D2 for the mif $7500 range with a little less mileage.
Are there any service paper or history with it.
98 was a decent year for the D1, probably the only thing I would be concerend about would be the head gaskets, and I say that for all Rovers.

Well, I'm located in Kansas City, Missouri. Turns out the car had a LOT of stuff done to it. He is the third owner and is the kind of guy that fixes cars up to sell them. Honest as can be but just not the kind of car I'm looking for.
The first ownerof the car rebuilt the lower half of the engine at 20K miles. The current owner had new heads done at 80K miles along with a new transfer case, batttery/alternator, a fuel pump and spare, and plugs and wires. He also installed an Alpine head unit with Audiobahn subs. The things that are currently wrong with the car are that the rear sunroof works when it wants, it needs a new ignition switch, and the clearcoat on the hood is wearing off.I told the guy $6200 would be about max but he said $8+ stiff. I figure I'll keep my '98 Expedition with $133K miles on it if I can't find anything better. Not one problem since new.
Thanks for the quick reply
