Default Looking to buy 03 Discovery II

Hello , Im new to this sight and am looking to buy a Discovery II . Im presently looking at an 03 with 76000 miles on it. Its a one owner vehicle thats been well maintained a garage kept . They are asking
$5250 for it, What should I be looking at that is specific to the vehicle and does the price seem fair for excellent condition. ( its over blue book I know by $700 or so) Thankyou

If you can get the $700 discounted that would be better. I have a 03 and has 160k and still running strong no engine issues since I got it 13 years ago, well except head gasket and other minor stuff but I would pick a 2004 since it has CDL.

Thx....I think Ill offer 4700 for it....and go 4900 tops Im not a big off roader anymore so the CDL isnt a major issue for me.

Any way you decide, 2003 still great. TC works fine in most cases. I still use mine in some off road event.

Good price, refresh the cooling system as soon as you get it, along with all fluids, but contingent on an inspection by a Rover Shop.

Get it checked out by a lr mechanic that's your best start off point

if you end up buying it

1- ultra Guage to monitor your temps
2- 180 Tstat keep those temps down 190-205 max
3- disco mikes maintenance list in the sticky

They say the radiator was replaced recently and it has new tires....Also say they have service records from local LR dealer . Im going to look at it tomorrow . I crawl under and have a look at the drive shafts and tranny for sure. Anything else to look at?.

Check the frame for rust, I also like to bring a oil pressure gauge with me and check the oil pressure. on the 2003 and 2004 you can easily remove a plug near the oil filter with oil cooler lines screwed in on the earlier models and screw in a oil pressure gauge. I don’t remember the thread size but it might be in the rave manual. You can buy an aluminum plug in the auto parts store that matches the thread size, you’ll need a mechanical gauge then you’ll have to drill a hole in the plug tap it for the brass fitting on the oil pressure gauge

And for one owner truck with that knowledge that price is excellent.

Just make sure you run it up to operating temperatures and test drive it for an extended period, listening for ticking or knocking.

Good luck.
