Looking to buy 2004 Disco-color options and mechanical question
Looking to buy a 2004 Disco. I've seen cars advertised as Giverny green but look Bonatti Gray. Even the sellers can't tell me for sure. What is the difference? Is it clearly visible?? Also, I can't seem to find Vienna green or Giverny green with black interior. How difficult/costly is it to replace a beige interior with black? Is it worth it? Seats, door panels etc.. On the mechanical side, I've been told that ALL 2003-2004 discos will eventually develop the knocking sound and the sleeves will have to be pinned/top hats put on etc... Is that true?

There were more than 750,000 Disco 1's and 2's manufactured, but I doubt that many owners care about differences/distinctions in their color tint shading/naming!
The cosmetic interior panels & trim unbolt, unscrew, and often simply snap on/off easily. There's no technical difficulty in removing/replacing anything on a Disco, inside or out. Just 3 phillips screws, for example, to remove the interior door panel on the rear passenger doors.
As for the motors, consider that you will see many high mileage Discos...which is quite a feat for offroad 4x4's that are used for hill climbing, rock crawling, mudding, towing, and general utility driving at maybe 10 miles per gallon.
I expect my V8 to last to 230,000 miles after acquiring it at 174,000. Just my expectation. Who really knows?! The motors aren't infinite. Sure, with enough miles they are all going to fail...which is true for everything ever made on this planet.

Those two colors that you mentioned are visibly different. Probably at night where both colors might look similar when its dark and depending which angle the light strikes the car.
Im not sure if its really worth changing the interior from beige to black unless you get all the seats separate to change them even the panels. Some plastic moldings can be painted with interior black paint. A single seat without the backrest replaced will cost around $400.00. Unless you want custom stuff and spend good money then all is possible.
It all depends. Sometimes people have so much to spend on their discos they replace the chassis to galvanized, motor with all the upgrades etc.
Like No Doubt mentioned, nothing in this planet last. I have disco with 185K miles with no tick, one with tick and after HD job disappeared and the last ticks randomly. They all can be maintained or fixed but all requires a budget.

And Vienna Green is the light green
......
I am colorblind, one of the red/green classifications, as well as many other colors. Or at least, that's what they tell me.
Point being, alot of greys and greens look alike to me.
My 04 Disco is black. But I spent alot of time looking for grey or black. Several of the ones I thought were grey, were actually green. After reading the ad, or seeing it in person. Then realizing it must be green, because the grey looks funny in the sun light.
May not be your problem, but you never know.
And, fyi, my 04 is black with black interior.
It does however have a greyish tan headliner, door pillars, sun visors, ect. I will be replacing the headliner soon too.
I would like to go black on everything, but think it's too much trouble to paint everything, or find the dark greyish black interior pieces.
If you wanted to spend the time; the best thing would be to find a junker with decent black interior for a few hundred bucks(total truck cost), and sell or part out the rest. They're out there too.
Good luck with it.

I was actually able to find myself an 04 S D2 in Vienna Green with a black interior, no rear A/C, and jump seats! Much nicer color combo vs that Alpacha Biege!
I also honestly like how it doesn't have arm rest on the front seats! I never use em personally but most used D2's = arm rest are gross!!
I also don't really miss the sunroofs, however the S model stereo must go!! Darn thing is just like the Freelander it came from = crappy.
If you look hard enough you can find the color combo you want, but it might take some looking.

OP - you can use this website to see color options. Just change the URL to the year you are interested in.
