The prices can vary quite a bit depending on miles and condition, I would recommend the D1 for pricing reasons.Insurance is high, and fuel economy is poor. Unless you have someone helping you out financially, I would recommend a cheaper more fuel efficient vehicle. I love Land Rovers, but if you are a student and working part-time, I hate to say it but buy something that will not require repairs, unless u are a good mechanic.

I work full-time and go to school at night. I really like these rig's but the only thing that scares me is they require a lot of work and tlc!

think of it this way,,,

a rig shows a lot about a guy. if he drives a LR it says the like his relationship with his girlfriend or wife, he is willing to do what it takes to keep things on track and running smoothly. when things go bad or something breaks down, you are willing to work with it to make it better.

or you can drive something that is emotionless and that requires little effort or upkeep,,,,we will compare this to a booty call.

hmmmm i think i favor the booty call in terms of the non automotive comparison. HA!

If that is your thinking, then the LR may not be too bad. Keep that Toyota for the times the Rover may need some repair work or for when fuel prices go back up. If it's just a weekend toy and off-roader you're looking for, and you can deal with any repairs that do pop up, dive into the Rover scene.

I prefer to think of the Rover as "the other woman." It's like the affair. When the time is right, you go play with it. You think about it when you're driving your trusty Toyota. You plan for the money you will spend on it for nice things (needed or just wanted) on the side while not letting your loyal Toyota know about how much more money you spend on the Rover than on it. And... you have to show it expensive love, sometimes, to keep it quiet. Ha!

haha!

Yeah I was going to sell my toyota, but once I figured out I can get a DI for pretty cheap. I may just drive it on weekends and for fun.

Is there any good websites besides, autotrader to find a land rover's for sale?

Ebay could be a good place to look. Check this site out. Some folks sell on. Search craigslist - look in different cities you're willing to drive to. Maybe start a new thread on here and ask these folks if they know of anyone with one for sale outside of here. Word of mouth (or keyboard) is good from those in a good circle.

Last year I believe for D1 is 02. Some if not all older SD1's have vinyl interior, w/ the 04 the SE's & HSE's have Dual Sunroofs, it is an option on the S, Navigation system was an option on the SE not available on the S, standard on the HSE. The price difference for the 04's should be around this, add $500 dual roof on S, add $200 Nav Sys on SE.. Add $1200-$1500 for SE, add $2500-$2800, over the base S price. when comparing. i.e. S $8000, SE $9500, HSE $10500 add $600 for the (7) option, you should know be able to compare apples to apples. for 02 SD, $5000 SEadd $1000, for (7) add $400 , add $400 dual sunoof SD, only 2 models available in 02 Good Luck.

WOW! I so got lost with that!

Are you sure the DI was in 2002, I thought it went to 1999?

What price range am I looking for a DI with less than 100k miles, leather and dual sunroofs? And well running rover?
