I am looking for someone knowledgeable about Discovery 2’s preferably a mechanic or experienced owner to do a pre-purchase inspection on a 2004 Land Rover Discovery 2 HSE in Huntington, NY. I am located in Florida, so I can’t check it out myself and would really appreciate someone who knows these trucks giving it a thorough look.



The truck has had a lot of work done, including a replacement 4.6L engine (70K miles), new cooling system components (radiator, water pump, thermostat), rebuilt ABS, suspension updates, and POR-15 chassis protection, but I want to make sure everything checks out before committing.



If you are in the area and can help (or know a reputable independent shop that can do a detailed PPI), please let me know! I’m happy to compensate for your time.

Sight unseen purchase of a DII? Gambling man!!
I bought a 89 RR sight unseen but my expectations were low so I didn’t bother getting it checked out and the truck STILL underdelivered. Similar description too, new motor etc. Looking back even if I had sent someone to check it out I probably would have heard what I expected, runs great, a little rust on the hood….

Motor pooped the bed within 500 miles. But I was prepared for that outcome.

My current Disco was serviced by them before I bought it. Being Long Island (and Rover) they tend to be pretty expensive judging by the receipts. They're probably who has serviced the one you're looking at. I don't know of anyone independent in the area because they're so dominant.
