Lucas electrics were most notably problematic on the NAS vehicles. The Brits had problems with the EPA stuff, but figured it out with Bosch. That is the word on the street, but I see more D2's with problems than D1's. Most proplems can be traced to a leaky windshield.

I have only had on problem. I could turn the key to the run position, and it would start on its own within 10 seconds. A quick swap of the internal fuse box remedied that. I also re-sealed my windshield...
