Default Problem solved

Hey guys, you were right on with the air box nipple. My hose now has a home.

As to the 3.9 thing. As I understand, this car was manufactured for distribution in South America and so has some peculiarities. Maybe someone else on the forum knows more about it. My owner's manual is in Spanish.

Different engines for different markets.
DI's had 4 different engines.
A the MPI, a 4 cylinder gas engine.
The V8, which started out as the 3.9, then went to 4.0, they are the exact same engine just the 4.0 has electronic ignition while the 3.9 has a distributor.
The 200tdi, which is a mechanical diesel. (think farm tractor, no electricity needed for it to run, only fuel and air)
And the 300tdi which is a electronic diesel.

All "petrol" powered Land Rovers also had a LP option or could be converted easily to run on LP, or propane as Hank Hill calls it.

All DI's are the same, a '95 is the same as a '99, just different engines and cosmetics.

The 3.9,4.0 and 4.6 are the same block and heads.
I have heard but cannot confirm that the RRC 4.2 is the same as the Disco engine.

Good to know. The dealer in the US that I get parts from some times thought it was strange too.

Well if you have problems explaining that its the 3.9 in a '97 just tell them that its a '95.
Ordering parts online you can do that too, if they will ship to you that is.

So when ordering engine parts order for a '95, everything else a '97.

Spike strikes again. Man you are a wealth of knowledge about these machines. I am glad you are around.

Craig , I am glad to hear you got your problem fixed. I took a quick look at your website. It looks really interesting down there, I'll take a closer look at it when I get some time. What a great family experience for you and your children. Would love to take some time off and come down for a visit.
