been a way for a bit. had a little accident and needed 15 stitches to sew my calf back up... swapped out the radiator hose stuff and that fixed the leak at the purge screw. coolant level is staying consistent. got my IR thermo today and shot the radiator after drive. running temp 199-201. idle temp 205. Top driver side radiator 199, top passenger side radiator 173 bottom driver side radiator 166, bottom passenger side radiator 134, center 134... so, it looks like I've got a crap radiator... so, what should I look to get. I've seen recommendations about the nissens...

Installed the new Nissens this morning. Same test drive scenario as the ones at the beginning of this thread, 188.6 throughout, with rise to 199.4 at stops. Hot dang, looks like I can start working on the other issues now

I think there is still something else going on but good job on the replacement and take a short reprieve whilst you attend to another issue in the Disco. What happened to your leg?

Awesome news, for the lazy can you recap the work you've done so far to get to this point?

yup... first thing was to buy an UltraGauge... after that, here's the progression

1. replaced hose to manifold (had a slice in it and crumbled in my hand when I grabbed it)

2. replaced thermo with genuine 180 degree (lucky 8)

3. replaced upper hoses assembly (crack in bleeder nipple)

4. purchased IR Thermo and confirmed 90 degree difference from driver side top to passenger side bottom... replaced radiator (nissens from autohausaz... http://www.autohausaz.com/pn/64313A cheapest price and delivered in two days to Georgia

so far, running consistent 188.6 (actually dropped to 185 for the few seconds I was able to get above 50mph... I live on a small island and you gotta go across the bridge to get over 55) Gotta replace the drag link and front drive shaft before I feel comfortable driving it much more than just up the road, but so far it looks like it's made a huge difference... those parts should be in next week and then I should have a better idea if it's all good. Thanks a ton for all the help
