Just bought a 2001 Disco 2, it came with one key, I ordered another blank, before I got it cut I lost the one key!! Feeling incredibly stupid, what are my options ? thanks

Your other option is to reach really deep into your pockets and get a dealer to cut and program a new key, I think you have to have the vehicle at the dealer to do that so you are looking at big $... Perhaps someone else on here can be of more help, good luck!

 

You don't have to take the vehicle in to the dealer but you do have to prove ownership.

Then done. Problem fixed and two fully functional remotes and key for $300.

Keys at my local locksmith as of last week when I got two more cut were $2 each. Every time I see a used D2 key pop up on eBay I get it, remove the brain, drop it into one of those Atlantic British blanks, code it with the nanocom and slowly accrue more and more keys. My goal is to always have four excellent-condition remotes for each Disco.

There is a hiccup with that plan as the nanocom is no longer available to rent. Unfortunately it seemed those renting it did not treat it well and the owner wisely stopped the rental program.
