Default Lots of Codes...Need Advice/Help

01 Disco SE 88k

My check engine light came on the day I took my vehicle to pass inspection. I went and got a rejection sticker just to buy myself some time. In the past, whenever the light has come on it usually fixes itself. It often happens when I cheat at the gasoline pump with lower grade. Anyway, this time the light has not gone away. I went to Auto Zone and had these codes pop up.

0171
0174
0734
1171
1174
1884

Im not a techie, so any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

first, stop using cheap gas or you may damage your truck for good if you have not already. always use 91+ octane.

did you check for vacuum leaks at the air intake and MAF and the air filter box clips? its probably not your o2's unless the light has been on a while then they all could be dead. i would start by looking for a vaccum leak. if you can't find one i think your MAF is dead. if you find a leak or loose hose get it sorted, clear those codes and see what comes back.

thanks Ed,

I am not a wrench by any means, so I really have no clue what any of that means. Sorry.

With that being said, should I be seeing a mechanic?

How do you reset the codes?

you should download this http://www.landroverresource.com/doc...hop_Manual.pdf

its the workshop manual for your truck.

finding a vacuum leak is the easiest thing. you baiscally need to start at the air intake and look for broken plastic or loose or broken clips. follow it up to the intake plenum.

the plenum is top right with the yellow sticker on it and that rusty wheel in front of it. follow that to the front of your truck all that black plastic.

you can get the codes cleared at most parts stores for free. they will use an ODB2 reader. don't clear the codes until you find the vacuum leak.

Redneck easy way to check for vacuum leaks: get a $3 can of carburetor cleaner, start the engine, and start spraying things. When the idle speed increases, you have found the vacuum leak.

Sounds like I'd be in a bit over my head with this. I have a decent mechanic whom I trust. I will probably pay him a visit. Thanks
