Default Loud odd sound when accelerating

Hey yall, my 03 Discovery has recently developed this issue whenever I am accelerating in drive- This horrible sound radiates from my vehicle and I am unable to determine where it is coming from! It sounds like this extremely loud cricket sound/ squeal/ whistle. And it is only when I am in drive and accelerating. I thought it was my fan belt but I checked it out and its in great condition, but I bought some belt conditioner just incase and it did no good. This has developed in a day and it is extremely annoying. Please let me know if anyone has any idea what this could be or if you had the same thing happpen to you.
Thanks

STOP DRIVING THIS TRUCK PARK IT AND HAVE IT TOWED!!!!!

Your front driveshaft is about to fail and it will cost you $7000 for a new transmission, have it towed to any shop that does u-joints and it will cost you under $300 to have the front driveshaft rebuilt with greasable u-joints.
Dont do this and you WILL be buying a new transmission and driveshaft.

Ditto, crawl under the front drive shaft, if you can only see 1 of the 3 grease fitting, then there is a good chance the drive shaft has not been rebuilt and is failing. Don't take it to a dealer, he will just charge you $800 plus and give you another one of their non serviciable shafts. See if you can find a shop to replace the 2 u-joints and the centering ball of the double cardon housing.

You are looking for the "nipple" that you see in this pic.
There needs to be 3 of them where the front driveshaft connects to the transfer case.

I really appreciate all the help, I got it looked at this AM, and the first thing he said was my drive shaft was falling apart, plus my front break pads, and my belt so he can fix and install it all for $600, which I'm sure is $2000 cheaper than the dealership would have done to me. So thanks Mike and Spike for guiding me in the right direction

Default A big thank you!

We recently experienced the cricket noise, had it not been for this forum, I'm sure it would not have been fun. Thanks all! My husband was able to take care of this and our Land Rover "Henry" is back on the road
