Thanks all for the input. To clarify, I had the truck up on jack stands in the video and had it in both drive and neutral....there is no difference in sound if I place the truck in neutral while it is moving. In that video, all 4 tires were spinning and I had it up to about 30mph.

The sounds starts usually around 10 to 15mph, and the pitch doesn't really change as I get faster - which I think is odd...I would expect the pitch and frequency to change as my speed changes but it really doesn't....said another way, the sound is the same if I'm going 15mph or 40 mph.

I like the idea of using a scope to try and pin-point the sound.....I'll try that tomorrow.

As for other symptoms, the only other thing I notice is a slight burnt smell after I drive it for a bit - could be a transmission smell, but I'm not sure. No other symptoms with the way it drives or handles (no vibration or performance issues).

Also, no leaks. No change in pitch or sound under load or if I'm coasting. Thinking I'll change the trans filter regardless as it likely hasn't been changed since 30k (and I'm almost at 100k)

Default Used a scope, not Exactly sure

It is really loud, so it’s hard to pin point the exact location. Definitely from the transfer case area but it could be the front or rear.

Noise now starts around 5mpg at a lower rate, and then gets faster as I speed - and then maintains a rate/frequency from 30mph and above.

really frustrating- at this point I may just bring it to a shop to put on a lift. I do t want to replace the transfer case unless that is truly the issue.

any other ideas are appreciated!

Did you take it off-road recently? I have a similar noise coming from the same area. Mine is a result of sand or mud in the emergency brake drum. I haven't gotten in there to clean it out but try working your E-brake will its moving to see if it changes the sound. For mine it reduced the volume of the grinding a little. The brake could either be frozen or gunked up. Just a thought, its a simple fix if that's the issue.

Thought I’d put in a post to update. Turns out it was a bad transfer case. I pin pointed the sound coming from the front of the transfer case. Bought a used/ resealed one on eBay. Researched what it would take to put it in myself and I decided to have a local Indy shop put it in. Fixed! No leaks and no squeaks.

this was the first repair or service I’ve not done myself so I was a little nervous handing this over to a shop, but it all worked out.

I think low gear oil contributed to the t case failure. As I’ve been driving it for years with a slow leak. While I usually checked the oil level once a quarter or so, the last time was about 6 months and I noticed it needed almost a quart. Not good...lesson learned.
