Default Low end knock. Video.

I’d describe it as a medium volume knock. More than a tick. Can’t feel it through the pan or the block with my hand.
Seems in time with revolutions. Sometimes louder, every now and again it’s a distinctly louder single tap.

Can I learn more my removing the pan and having a look?

Think I’ve been hearing it in the cab for a while, now I come to think of it.

What are the options here? Can’t be bottom bearings, right?

Have you checked oil pressure? Only when cold or hot?

Haven’t checked oil pressure since ‘23. A tick turned out to be exhaust manifold. Can do that tomorrow.

I’ll pay attention in the morning. I think it’s when hot and cold.

Quiet when cold. Only starts knocking when hot.

Cold idle - 52
Cold 2k - 58
Hot idle - 34
Hot 2k - 50

Which is amazing as I understand it.

I did run it with maybe a half quart over full for a while, can’t see that making much difference.
