Default Low oil pressure after oil change

Just did an oil change a couple days ago and now I've noticed my oil pressure is about 10-13 psi. Before the oil change it was about 15-17 psi. I used Mobile 1 10w-30 and Mobile 1 301 oil filter. I however did not do the previous oil change and I'm thinking it was probably a heavier weight. I currently have 58k miles on my truck. Any ideas?

Thanks for the replies in advance!

When were those pressure readings taken, hot or cold at idle? Did you use the same gauge both times to check the pressure and yes oil weight can make some difference.

I have an oil pressure gauge installed in my truck. The readings are at hot and on idle. Before the oil change I would have between 15-17 hot at idle. Truck runs smooth as pie, but did notice the psi drop a little since the new oil change a couple days ago. Should I be concerned?

I wouldn't worry about it unless it gets down below 10psi. Wait a week or so of driving till its viscosity has a chance to break down some and pressure will more than likely return. Still 17psi seems low to me, my gauge reads 20-25psi at cold idle.... so IDK man, good luck and stay on top of it.

I'd advocate bumping it up to 10w-40 next change, although I run 20w-50 in mine!

You use oil based on the air temp in the area a person lives in, seasonal, not recomondation of others, as an example, 20W/50 year around in Ohio is not a wise recomondation for winter use.

Friend of mine runs it year round in his Rangies and never had a problem. All 7 of them.

I wouldn't worry about 10-13 at a hot idle. My 2003 is 15psi when sitting at a stop sign some days. I use Mobil 1 10w-40. I have a digital oil pressure gauge installed. Sounds like yours is nothing to worry about. I would't worry till its 8psi or below. What is your cold startup oil presure. Mine is 45-50psi and about 45psi @ 2000rpm. My VIN is in the death range but seems healthy still at 90k.

you guys are right! yesterday and today have been kind of cold her in CA (strange, last week was very hot into 100) and my psi is back at 15-17 Hot on idle. Cold startup is 50-56psi! Hot at 2500 RPM is about 50psi.
