Default LR 2003 D2/SE headliner problem

New to this forum so thank you for the help.

I have a 2003 D2/SE7 and the headliner is separating and coming off the roof. Tried contact spray but does not hold. Lucky 8 told me to pull it all off, scarp off the yellow foam/glue and spray the headliner with some sort of plastic installation paint (was not specific). What have you done to correct the headliner problem?

Thanks
Richard

Hi Richard,

First and foremost, welcome to the forum.
The info you need is under the section " Sticky - Write ups, How Tos, and Must Read "
" Interior " subsection DIi Headliner.

Regards,
Ed

welcome..my 2cents. do some forum searching before you tackle the headliner. there is a wealth of experience on the matter. I've seen recovers from kevlar to giraffe. I painted mine and love the way it looks, but it is all a matter of opinion. I exercised all methods to patch mine up, all proved futile. it is a do the whole thing deal, but quick and easy. took me about 3hrs. good luck in your endeavors.

I wasnt going to be bothered with removing the headliner. I bought these clips on amazon and spray painted them the color of my headliner (beige). I put them up all over the car in a uniform manner and they look like the normal interior body panel clips. One recommendation though is to use a sharp tool to poke a small hole in the fabric before using the clip. They are supposed to tear themselves through but it just coils up the fabric if you dont. good luck

I used old fashion thumb tacks, until it needs to come out

Another option, which I did was to remove the headliner and take it to a Headliner Shop. They only charged me $150 to put the new liner on. Normally the job is $350 but that is mostly labor to take out and reinstall the headliner.
