Default LR Assured & Plug Wires

Anyone have LR assured cover plugs and wires. I'm told they won't cover mine and they can't diagnose problem further without new plugs and wires... so I'm doing it myself (~$1,100 at the dealer Ouch!) plus they won't cover the diagnostic time because plugs and wire's are not a covered item. Seriously, an '03 with 43K and bad wires (possibly) and they're not covered.

Just curious about others experience

Don't have the dealer replace them, and if you are replacing them, go with the 8MM magnacor's. Lifetime warranty and they will deliver all of the available spark the coils have. Also, the Bosch platinum +4 plugs have proven to be best in Rovers.

Spark plugs and wires are like brake pads. Warranty won't cover them...

Yeah, no way I'm going to pay someone over a grand to do a job I can do myself. I've already got the manifold off waiting on the wires plugs and gasket to get here.

I understand warranty not covering "normal wear and tear" but there is no way I can accept 43K on plugs and wires as "normal"... if that really ends up being what it is.

You might want to call me before you do anything so you don't have this back up on you.

Mike, thanks man, much appreciated. Im not sure if I was typing the post above yours when you posted but anyway I've got everything off without any problems. I printed out the info from RAVE to have handy. After getting into it I was shocked that it seemed it really was the most efficient way of doing things, as I've found manuals usually aren't.

Any insight or advice as to putting things back on or things to do or watch for would be awesome, send some of your wisdom my way. If the trend continues, I should be under "book" on time. I was dreading the job but it really has not been bad at all.....so far. Oh, secondary air is the devil. After I get everything back together I think I'll douse it with holy water and see if it disappears.

What are you using for plugs and wires?
The dealer may come back and bite you if it is not all factory but in your best interest you should go to the 8mm Magnecor wire and Plus 4 plugs.

I went with the magnecor wires (rover connection was awesome with service and price) and LR plugs. I would rather have had the +4s and have had great luck with them in other vehicles but... as you said, I thought while in warranty better to stick with LR plugs since they are "designed specifically for LR" I felt I could make a case for the wires if they tried to screw me as they exceed LR specs.

I asked the service manager about both the wires and relocating the coil messing with warranty and he said not a problem. After seeing the coil location better I decided not to relocate. I figured the current location keeps it good and dry and, just maybe LR actually put it there for a reason.
