Team,

Every time my mate's LR drives over large bumps, both his blinkers turn on and automatic door lock mechanism engages (without locking).

Help me diagonose this problem.

He has a door latch out of adjustment. The blinkers are flashing because they think that he is locking the door, same with his locks.
If it isint the latch then it is one of the buttons that turn the interior lights on and off when you open the door. You know, that button on the door jam. The one that is like the button in your fridge.
One of those two things is out of adjustment, the button might just need to be replaced.

Would a loose fuse also cause this problem?

Maybe. Check that first, I didnt think about that.

 

he must be setting off the inertia switch. the car thinks youve been in an accident and unlocks the doors and activates the blinkers. this is a very common occurance. you reset this by restarting the car.
