FYI Land rover told me new cats $3000.00 repair , but they said does not need to be done just ses code pulled, and then wanted to buy my vehicle said it is in great shape. I will replace cats n o2 sensors n have my own mechanic put in n just keep it since all other work has been done , just front drive shaft that everyone talks about , but land rover said looks good.

That's an amazing deal. I sell several dozen a year and get no where near that much. Prices like that remind me of the pre-crash price I was getting during the summer of '08. I'll be contacting scrap inc. in the near future to see what they'll offer for the cats I have on hand.

Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
Paul

Yup, I went to my local metal recycler, he offered me $15 a cat
Come on! The DII cats hold at least 50 grams of PGM.

F.Y.I. DII cats are classified as (one) large exotic and (one) small exotic. Better yet, reference the model number when comparing quotes.

If what you are saying is true (no reason to doubt you) then I owe you a beer. I get a huge payment over "walk in" price because I deal in volume and its no where close to what these guys are paying.

Well, Drillbit and I have tried Sellyoucatsdirect and found wildly different prices for DII cats. Some are worth more than others based solely on part numbers. I sent them pictures of cats from a couple of DII's and got prices ranging from $90 to $120 which is within the range of what I get locally. Marty (Drillbit) actually sent off a couple of pairs of cats from DII's. One pair were worth what I found, $210/pr. while another pair were worth the $375.

From what we can tell, there are very specific cats within the DII range from 1999-2004 that are worth a lot more than others. If you are lucky enough to have cats with a specific part number they can be worth $375/pair but most are worth only $210/pair. It would seem that at certain times during the DII model run, some cats were assembled with a higher content of platinum, rhodium and paladium. As we move forward, recyclers are going to need to pay greater attention to specific part numbers to determine, accurately, the worth of these cats.

I'm about to swap my cats out. Do you think it has to do with a non SAI motor vs the SAI motors?

I doubt it. The '03 I have here has SAI while the '00 doesn't. My quote was the same for either. I've never been in the habit of making note of cat part numbers but from now on I will.

Hmmm. Even 200$ will pay for my cat I'm using. I just need a mandrel bender for my exhaust.
