LR3 wheels on 2004 Disco
Hey guys. I have run a search a couple times to find my answer and can't find what I am looking for. I remember reading a post about putting LR3 wheels on a disco. The post had said that hubcetric rings were needed. I have installed them on my 2004 Disco without the hubcentric rings. Other then needing to get the wheels balanced (has a little shimmy from 45-50mph) everything seems to work.
Am I imagining that I read the need for hubcentric rings somewhere?

No, you really do need hub centric rings. While the pattern is the same the center bore of the wheel is different. Without the rings the studs are now supporting the weight of the vehicle. Normally the studs/lugs only prevent movement of the wheel on a horizontal plane as the wheel is kept centered by contact with the hub. Without the rings you're now asking 5 studs to keep the wheel centered on the vertical as well. One good pothole and it's going to be all over.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you've got to get the rings.

Edit: Dont know if they even make them for an LR3,but wheel adapters/spacers .

^^ exactly. The DII center bore is 70mm and the LR3 is 79mm, which is quite a significant difference. Personally, I'd rather go the LR3 to DII route with ring than take 4.5mm or material out of the bore. There's no structural compromise by using a ring to expand the diameter of the hub. Honestly, I seriously doubt there would be any issue with enlarging the center bore but I also didn't engineer the wheels and would rather err on the side of safety since it is a significant difference.

Thank you very much guys. I ordered rings today. I found the below post on another forum and think it will be perfect.
size of hub centric rings for 2003 disco with 2003 hse wheels - Land Rover Forums : Land Rover and Range Rover Forum
I will let you know how/if it works out.

Anyone in the last decade bore DII 18" rims to fit an LR3? Do you have to do anything else? I got a screaming deal on a set and because of that would be ok paying to have the centers bored if that's about all it needs? Do the brakes still work? My 2008 LR3 already had wheel spacers added prior to me buying it too.
