Lucky 8's new Project D2 - Bigger and Better than the last one
Incase you missed this.
Thats a lot of people. I can't imagine you are being serious with that statement.
You should join the NELRC if your looking to wheel with other Rovers. They are based out of NYC and hold many events in NJ.
I can not believe as a master Land Rover Tech you would be proud of this lift. Running a stock shock in the front ? No HD drive line upgrades? As a master tech Im sure you know that the stock carrier is unbelievably week for 35s,
Come to Rovers on the Rocks and out drive the top guy on 33s with your 35. I will be thoroughly impressed if you can get in the top 5 of the 33in tire class.

You seem like the kind of guy to not ask a question and then demand an answer to his statement.
"The next project I am doing is going to be the OM617 into D2 project."
I'm just a weekend shade-tree guy, but I gotta say that sounds pretty interesting, and maybe a bit more sensible than an LSX swap. reminds me of the comment about D2's being right-lane barges.

RoverMasterTech was willing and able to help me out when I had a bunch of codes I couldnt figure out. Prevented me from buying parts that I didnt need and told me how to fix it myself. He had a few rovers at his place too...
Glad to hear he might have a good side.
It is time for an update.
As everyone knows, the stock motor mounts on these trucks are garbage. As if these trucks didn't have enough problems, the geniuses @ Land Rover decided to use garbage motor mounts as well. The stock ones on my truck were not yet broken, but considering the terrain we encounter, I wanted to change them out with a set of the new Proud Rhino in an attempt to save myself from doing it on a trail somewhere.
Being that this is a project truck, and I was on a tight schedule and with having to basically swap trucks mid-build, I wasn't left with enough time to swap both motor mounts before I left for Spring URE this past April. If you've ever done a motor mount on your D2, you know that the passenger side is a 10 minute job. So, naturally I did the passenger side with hopes the driver would hold until I returned.
It did not.
Half way up the trail Daniel @ URE, my motor felt a bit rough. Upon further inspection, the mount had failed. Just my luck. Not having an immediate solution, I gently finished the trail, retreated back to camp. The one new Proud Rhino mount was so strong that it held the motor itself. Not having the replacement handy, we used a ratchet strap to hold it down, and it worked all weekend long. Special thanks to Matt Hines and Tobias Fricke for their help with that.
With both new mounts installed on the truck, it runs like a dream and has already tackled some terrain here locally at a new location we've been scouting.
Thanks for reading,
Erik
