Hi Folks,

Late, but what the hell...I had the exact same issues with my Landy and through extensive testing, my M & S issue came down to a tranny fluid change and a faulty earth/ground after replacing the alternator and battery. CHECK YOUR EARTH CONNECTIONS AT THE BATTERY TO THE FUSE BLOCK AND FRAME!

My Landy now runs like the beast it should! Especially with the new MagnaFlow exhaust system.

OK, the dilemma is not over with the M+S flashing lights in the dash and Hill Descent Control “ON”, now there is a pattern that I don't understand. When the M+S lights flash, I connect my HawkEye Diagnostics kit, I get P0335 which indicates that crankshaft position sensor is faulty (IT IS NOT…keep reading), and P1884 (35) which I don't understand what it is. I clear the errors, and I use the car for the whole day without any issues. The following morning usually when the car is cold, the same errors happen again either when the car is still in “P” or when I drive the car a little. This goes on for few days until the car starts no more.

When it starts no more (M+S flashing and HDC is ON) I can simply remove the crankshaft position sensor and put it back, the car will start and go for approx. a week without any issues, so the CPS is fine, then after a week the errors start coming back and so on.

So, I’m left to conclude that the error P1884 (35) has something to do with the M+S, but there is no one single thing to check, but many.
Is this an error that has anything to do with the wiring harness(es) of anything particular…..I know it is nothing mechanical, I have changed all possible combinations of things (I have changed the XYZ switch, Alternator, Battery, earth connections, changed tranny fluid) nothing worked.

Your thoughts are appreciated...I’m soon to give up on the car....

You are saying, because you reset it, the problem goes away.?

Its actually the exact opposite. Because you reset it, it take awhile for the problem to resurface because it has to go thru all the set "conditions" it say before it gets to the problem condition.

Parts can be bad out of a box. You wont be the first, or the last.

Hello All,
Its been a few months, the issue is finally resolved with the flashing M+S, the issue was with the cable that goes behind the engine manifold and all the way to the connector that powers up the CPS, it was not in good shape, cable replaced and error is gone. I thought of updating the forum about this dilemma of M+S flashing.

I had the same issue and it was the earth/ground cable from engine to firewall being loose. In fact the prob was so that my hand brake heated to a point that it soldered the wire somewhere and now I'm without handbrake, it stuck in the off position, fortunately. The initial prob was solved, but now it flash occasionally, I'm pretty sure my battery is on its last legs... ;-]#

Could you give more detail on where this cable was please? What is the CPS? Which manifold,...intake or one of the exhaust manifolds?
