I wouldn't clean anything. No sense in it really unless you are entering a car show. All that water may cause some more problems. Just tighten down the valve cover bolts and see if the need to add oil stops. I just don't wash engines. Policy! No need in opening that can of worms in my opinion. Oil all over my motor because mine leaked before, but no one cares... not even me...

agree. a little water doesn't (shouldn't) hurt anything. if you have an issue from washing your engine...you have an issue. fix that too.
I have, on occasion, treated mine like a small sub. I have also gone to the wash, just to clean the engine bay. I wish I could say that I always let it cool down first, but....

I live in Whitman and work in Boston you are more than welcome to use my PT if you want.
being the cheap SOB that i am; I go to the Dollar Store and stock up on Spray Oven Cleaner to use on my motors, nice foaming, lings, work especially well when it gets hot, and its not $3.99 a can.

Hey Drowssap, didn't know were Whitman was....you'z be a bit of a hall for me, but I appreciate the generosity of loaning out your P/T. I may just bite the bullet and get one, then figure out how to use it.
Dig the oven cleaner idea....just wondering if the cleaner is to harsh on the engine/hoses when the engines get mighty hot and you spray the oven cleaner on the dirty parts. I've got a nice nice strong power washer at home, so I could raise the disco on some jacks and get under the belly once the oven cleaner has worked its wonders and spray the belly. Wonder if our volunteer fire department will let me use their pump truck power hose.....hmmmm......get the belly spit shine clean. Always was an eye sore for me to see all that oil underneath while I do my oil changes.
Thanks amigo
