I understand your situation. If it were my main car and didn't have my heated garage to work on it, I'd be looking at a quick fix too. They just don't want to see you throw money at an issue and still be stuck in the same situation, just now an extra $100 into the problem.

now you're the one being a dick...

we all have mortgages and kids which is exactly why we don't throw money at parts in search of a quick fix... it doesn't make sense with respect to time or money.

good luck.

What is the big deal with the name calling?? Does my approach to the problem really set people off? And yeah, I need some good luck.

. Got some related codes here from last nights obd from my other disco. Cleaned MAF with CRC sensor cleaner and had it dried overnight. No codes yet after 80 miles. No pending codes as well

edit. Lot of threads where cheap sensors won't work, or intermittently so with the Bosch computer. If you put Bosch replacements that is something you won't have to consider.

So, after a few months of Maf sensor SES, I took my Disco to my rover shop. Their scan showed a misfire in one cylinder. They said it was more likely the o-rings were leaking. So $800 dollars later, they were right. Island Dave was right, and so was min01. My fuel mileage has improved greatly, and engine runs smooth. So goodbye P1174

Starting to warm up here in the Northeast, so when I find a spare Saturday (yeah, right) it's Injectors and Valve cover gasket day.
Glad to hear you got it resolved.

Are you referring to the Orings on the fuel injector? That's 1 reason to DIY HG replacement. The person or tech who worked the top end over last year must have half-assed it as the gasket-seal kit includes new injector Orings. Furthermore, the injectors as a whole should have been addressed at that time; rebuild/replace/R&R to prevent this very incident from occurring 1-month or 1-year later. This thread will benefit others so thanks for sharing info.

I fought this bs for months. Good used Bosche MAF and/or two new WALKER O2 sensors fixed it. No idea which one was the culprit but comparing my long term fuel trims pre and post sensor install showed that the computer was tuning exactly the opposite of what it should have. Both banks were tuning +2-3% and after the sensors they switched to exactly the opposite, -2-3%
