MAF sensor replaced
Hi. I just replaced my MAF sensor due to the several associated codes that I've been living with for the past month or so. Having read a number of posts on the subject, I did stick with the OEM sensor. Now that I've replaced, my truck is idling very low, and not very smoothly. I've only driven about 5 miles since replacing. Is there some amount of breaking-in time for the computer to adjust to the new MAF sensor?
as Disco Mike would said what are your codes.
Their should be no break in time. so my guess is you didn't put the plug in the MAF or the plug is in rough shape. Smear some dielectric grease over the plug and jack and reseat it.

Did you check for a vac leak anywhere? Have you driven it long enough for any potential new codes to pop up? Did you clear the old codes? A new MAF with cleared codes should fire right up and work right away no delay.
The codes were P0101, P0102, P0172, and P0174. They went away after I changed the MAF sensor, but again, the truck is idling pretty erratically now. The O2 sensors were all replaced about 3000 miles ago. Actually, the truck ran fine with the old MAF sensor - I only replaced it because I was tired of seeing the check engine light and was afraid it would mask something else.
I haven't driven the truck but 10 miles since swapping. I read somewhere that disconnecting the battery might clear the computer. Maybe I'll try that.

I did remove and reseat the connector, adding some dielectric grease. Still stumbled a bit at idle. Drove about 30 miles at highway speed, car sat about 30 minutes, and when I started it back up, it seemed to be idling and running normally. Maybe the ECU did have to learn the new sensor or something. At any rate, knock on wood, the problem is apparently solved. No codes, no pending codes.
