Malfunctioning Immobilizer?
I've got aproblem with the immobilizer on my Disco 2 2001.
I just bought it yesterday and had a couple of stops on the way home. I had no problem starting the car or locking/unlocking it with the remote key. But…
When I got home, the car wouldn't lock with the remote. Later it wouldn't start. I can manage to fool the immobilizer by disconnecting the battery. When I reconnect Ican turn the engine on within 30 seconds. When I turn the engine off again, the immobilizer sets in 30 seconds after closing the door, and I'm back at thestart.
I'm lookingfor an easy and cheap fix. Either I want to get the immobilizer working again,or I want to bypass it. Another problem is that the key doesn't turn in thedoor (I'm going to try lubricating it), so preferably I'd like the remoteworking again.
I've read that the IDM/fuse box can create problems if moist?
I also read something about the crankshaft position sensor, but I doubt it should affect the immobilizer, or am I wrong?
I'd be extremely happy for any clues, ideas, suggestions or anything J

Key not turning in the door is the problem.
The lock mechanism is in the locked position probably.
I would promptly replace the lock mechanism in the driver's door.
This will sync the feedback from the mechanical lock mechanism
to the immobilizer
And it will fix the key on the door to operate the lock problem.
I would not discuss this to death, I would simply do it.
