Default manual & sport indicator lights blinking

99 disco II with 129,00 mi. 24 hours after purchase front drive shaft failed and took out transmission (total bummer I missed that on the forum as a potential problem while doing my research on disco II's). The drive shaft had been rebuilt or replaced as it had greaseable u-joints in it. Replaced transmission with a rebuilt unit from a transmission shop the lot I purchased it from does its business with and I recieved a whole sale price. Pulled and replaced the transmission following the rave manual. Fluid level done on a flat surface going through the gears and filling till stream started coming out. Read the threads pertaining to this specific issue so I had the battery tested twice and drove the whole vehicle to the local parts store and had a dynamic test on the charging system performed. It tested good per their equipment (14.16 dcv at idle), their test unit didn't yield any amperage output. Static battery test was 13.1 dcv. Checked things twice as I'm a human and we tend to miss or over look things on occasion. All connectors are plugged in, no visible leaks. As in previous post the transmission is not shifting. Service engine soon light is on as is the ABS light(I'll deal with this next) and the manual and sport mode lights blinking as the thread title says. Read the code and what came up was PO753. In the online rave manual there in a reference to a test book in the code identification table, is this online somewhere? In the end I'm trying to do my do diligence before going back to the transmission shop as I pulled it and put it in the vehicle.

dont know if this helps but P0753 is Shift solenoid (MV 1), open or short circuit Limp home mode in low and high ranges. Shift pressure to maximum, harsh gear shifts/engagement.

The full codes for the auto transmition I got from another web site the link is here:

Here's the two pages of codes from the automatic gearbox section of the RAVE shop manual. Not sure which on-line version you refer to, the two in my signature have it (download your own, or select just the slice you want, great for stuck without your USB drive copy that should be in the glove box...).

The online manual is the on provided in the "New members must read". On the table of codes in the right hand column that you sent me(savannah buzz, thank you) the header reads " Fault Code, OBDII (test book). Then when I get down to code PO753 it looks like it is giving me some reference (8,26) to some testing that I might be able to perform to confirm this problem. I was just unable to find any reference in this forum to this test book or see any reference to the test book in the rave manual that was linked to the forum through the sticky.

Sorry, just same pages. IMHO the OBDII scanner code is shown first (P0753) and the value in (8,26) refers to something in the test book software. You are indeed fortunate to have a D2 where removal of tranny pan is easier - no cross member to nudge out.

No need to apologize savannah buzz as all info is appreciated. So you referred to "test book software" that sounds like proprietary dealership information and not something I might easily find. Sounds like I will be making a trip back to the transmission shop for them to do further diag on my trans.

Test book is a computer on wheels that Rover had fabricated for dealers, with software, etc. $30K some said. But, there are other alternative devces, like Rovacom, Hawkeye, Autologic, etc. I just can't justify one for a tired old Disco. Some owners pop for them if they have multiple Rover vehicles or live 700 miles fom a dealer, etc. As for pro shops, there is no limit to the funds that can be spent on test equipment, other than SWMBO and the accountant. I guess the ROI (redneck opportunity for income) could be for one of the computer weasel owners to write their own smart phone app to duplicate these various testers, for Rovers and others. Would make so much money you could buy old Rovers and pay someone for frame off restorations and new Rovers and pay someone to wash 'em off. More time to watch Top Gear!

I bought the Autologic after using the Test Book for years. Their customer support is second to none. However, I have a sneaky feeling the trans is hitting high line due to clutch pack plate clearance. When the speed sensors do
not see the shaft speeds it wants, it goes to high line pressure. Usually this is caused by excessive clutch pack clearance. NOTE: this is what I see the most of, I do not know if this is your problem without a through inspection.
