Default Mass Air Flow

Does anyone have an opinion on an price for a MAF and Full Throttle thingy? My husband went online, (not sure where), but the MAF was about $700 and the Throttle jigger was about $80. Thanks for any input!

So you need a MAF and be more specific on the other part.
A MAF for a 2000 is around $130 plus and easy to replace.
Why does he think he needs these parts, is there a check engine light on, if so what codes did they find?

You may remember me from a month or so back. I was the idiot mom who had the check engine light on for a long time, with the mechanic that was also an idiot. After getting it back from 2300 dollars worth of work, it still did the same thing, sluggish, engine light blinking...the first mechanic did all of the stuff you guys said, (plugs, wires, etc.), new fuel pump. He apparently cleaned the MAF, and one of the posters here told me that you never clean the MAF and that the idiot probably ruined it. Needless to say, I found another mechanic who says it is the MAF sensor? Check engine is on and blinking...Does that sound right?

Do you have the codes from the obd2 reader ???

For the part, just go to the dealer or order from a reputated seller like Atlantice British, Rovers North or someone like that. There's way too many people taking advantage of high end vehicle owners on the net.

Just an update: Mass airflow replaced, running good, but my local mechanic is seein a code of: 6th cylinder? What is the firing sequence? Unfortunatley, the check engine light is still on, but he is getting a 6th cylinder code. Thanks so much!

You'll see this a lot in other posts: Change your spark plug wires to Magnecor 8mm (blue) wires. Change the plugs to Champion 7318 plugs or Bosch Platinum +4 (or +2). Only use Magnecor wires. With your high mileage I think it is a safe bet to assume the current wires and plugs are on their last legs.

The firing order starts with the front driver side cylinder. It goes 1-3-5-7 front to back drivers side, 2-4-6-8 front to back passenger side of engine.

Cheers,

Pete
