If steel grab handles are a problem then the darn padded steel roll bars in Jeeps would have been banned by now. I always bumped my head on the darn roll bar when off roading (would hate to see an accident) and I'm only 5ft 8inches tall.

I'd love a set of billet aluminum grab handles for my D1/D2, but I'm not going to pay 200.00 for something I rarely use in the first place.

Have yal considered paracord handles? Easy to make, super strong, customizable, and extra emergency cordage.

I thought about this at one point but think having a sturdy and fixed handle would be way better, e.g. you can press upwards to stay in your seat. Haven't tried a paracord handle though

I've only added those handles I posted to the rear. They're used solely to attach molle bags (tire deflators, air tools, first aid, etc)
the length is perfect, it covers the entire door frame from B to C pillar.

If you want to stay firmly in your seat when offroading whether driver or passenger how about a 4 point harness? It is a lot less dosh outlay than expensive metal handles and ensures that you don't need them whilst moving and only for entry or existing the truck.

In my experience they work extremely well whilst car racing and offroading (6 point required by the MSA for car racing).

I thought about paracord handles...after I saw them in some jeep pics. I like the idea, but I want some aluminum ones like Gzila has.

O.k. Just heard back from the FJ guy. I sent him pics of measurements and he's going to check his handles and let me know if they are already the right size etc.
