Default Metric or Standard?

Ok I have seen many write-ups on here saying that our beautiful trucks have metric fasteners and some that say we have standard fasteners. In all the maintenance and repairs that I have done they have been metric fasteners. I'm just wondering what everyone else has found.

^ Yep, a mix of both but mainly metric. My only theory was that the NAS specific items were SAE and the ROW were metric but that hasn't seemed to necessarily hold true. That being said, as far as I can remember regardless of if the head is SAE all the threads are metric. Don't take that as gospel though as there could be some I'm forgetting.

I seem to remember reading that most if not all chassis parts are metric, and most of the engine is SAE doing to its origin. Also not gospel as I have slept and drank since reading that, and am prone having memories of things that never actually happened.

The bolt heads on my water pump were metric 10mm and 11mm to be exact, I am still working on the writeup I'll have it up soon.

The engine block has some SAE, most of the the hydraulic and oil line fasteners are SAE, and the driveshafts are SAE. The rest I've found to be metric. Just to give you an idea can do 90% of a head gasket job with the HF laser printed impact socket set but there are some SAE fittings and some 12 pointed fasteners that require a 12 pointed socket.

For the sway bars you get to use both metric and SAE. Good times!
