Default Mezierre inline stat housing

I was doing some work under the hood this evening and noticed that I have an intermittent weep from the join on the stat housing. Is anyone using a sealant on the housing? Mine is more than hand tight. If I hadn't observed it leak from there, I'd still be at a loss because my coolant level hasn't noticeably altered in 400ish miles.

I have plumbing tape on the threads; never an issue.

Plumbing tape and use some pipe wrench or giant monkey wrench to tighten.

I talked to mezierre, they're convinced that no tape is necessary if torqued to 25ftlbs.
They're sending me a new gasket. I'll pull it all apart and redo at the weekend.

I had 2 different Meziere stat housings (WN0071) leak on 2 different trucks. Being that the threads are parallel and not tapered pipe (NPT), Teflon tape or paste sealant won't/can't work long run. The problem was the gasket. I tried a Fel-Pro #35278 (it's thicker) and it sealed like a champ. You can get the Fel-Pro or one like it at any NAPA. Good Luck!
