Misfire on cylinder 5
Went to buy a 2004 locally. Seller has it listed stating the SES light is flashing, but runs perfect, "might need service".
Get there and he says it's been sitting for 6 months because he read online not to drive it. Starts but definitely is mis firing.
Go to drive it and oil light comes on. Tell him and he is not surprised at all.
Talk to a tech and he says that if the owner drove it with an oil starvation issue, 4 and 5 are hit the worst. Hook up my auto logic and #5 is not firing at all. The end diagnosis was that the cam lobes on 5 were ground flat from oil issue thus the lack of firing.
Just thought I would share as I have never heard of that. Seller was not truthful, but I could tell the wires and plugs were fresh. He was definitely hiding the truth. When I told him it needed major work he starting quoting used motor prices to me, he knew it was done.
