Default Missing sunroof drain - rear drain hose tee fix

I decided to reinstall my sunroofs with some fresh rtv, jb weld around the drains and basic cleaning.

The hose for my front right drain was missing - completely gone - not great when it rains.

i looked and looked for a diagram for how the drain hose should be installed but couldn’t find anything. It disappears behind the A pillar on the left side. Rather than guess how the hose should be fit and get the electronics on the passenger side wet I decided to use my rear drain hose with a plastic tee.

Any thoughts? I’ve had my headliner down for a while trying to knock this job out right at the beginning.

Innovative but I don't know about this one.

I think the A pillar drainage tube routing is fine as is. It is very difficult to route it if you pull the A pillar front drain tube out though, I had to go buy a wiring fish tape.

It's generally not the drain tube that is the problem, it's the broken part the drain tube attaches to at the sunroof tray, seals or roof-to-frame or roof rails. That leaks down inside the car (separate from the drain tube) and damages electronics. Not the drain tube. There is a small chance that the area inside the body that the drains run into clog up, in which case it will back up inside the car, but it's really about keeping the drains clear not about a routing issue.

Those T's (visible in the clear tubing) look like they may be restricting the flow of water a bit too much.

All that said if the water drains and flows, what you have here works, then go for it and don't worry about it. Could work great. I just wonder if there's enough slope / gravity action.

Here are a couple of threads that have some pics that might help.

From reading it looks like you have a drain 2 front, 2 rear that all exit behind each wheel.
Front 2 go down each A pillar.

The T you have set up will probably work, but I would be more inclined to run it down the A pillars so you KNOW its going to drain.
But you should be able to test it and see if it does!

Both of you guys bring up a good point with gravity. I don’t understand what genius engineer designed the drains on these things. Why would you put both drains on the same side - did they assume no one would ever park their car on a hill. Poured a ton of water today and so far looks okay, but I’m assuming this isn’t the end.

I found this - https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...minates-80364/.

Not in the mood to snake hoses down pillars - so let’s see how my tee works.

I'd reposition the screw part on the metal clamps upward on the T to keep it from digging into the wiring.
