Default Mobil 1 5W-30 Availability???

Hello All,

Anyone else encounter a shortage of Mobil 1 5w-30 synthetic. Went to local parts stores and both were completly out. Also went to Walmart, shelves empty once again! Had them check inventory, nothing there or in any of their warehouses nationwide! What gives?

Regards,

Nick

I noticed that a month or so ago, but shelves were stocked today. People must be getting ready for the cold season. It's synthetic though, can there really be that much of a difference between their 10w-30 and 5w-30? I did notice that the price of M1oil filters increased by about $4 at advanced auto.

The storms in Texas took out the plant a few month back, be awhile before you find a lot of Mobil 1 around.

I was killing time on e-bay the other day and was looking for oil, a guy said that Ike took ouit the plant and that he had 30 quarts at $10 each PLUS SHIPPING!
Went to Wal-Mart today to get M1 to change the oil in my truck, notice on the shelf, due to hurricane Ike M1 is going to be very hard to come by.
I noticed that Modil 1 was more expensive than the other full syns, but Castrol and Pennzoil were the same price as Mobil 1, $6.27 per quart. Do they come from the same place?
Castrol and Pennzoil shelves were short too.
And it was all weights of the Mobil 1, not just 5w-30.

Thanks Guys, that would explain it.

Now for the next question...

Anyone using Pennzoil synthetic? There was plenty in stock and about the same in price.
Just hate to switch, like to be consistant with oil type/brand.

Thanks!

Nick

Hopefully some Mobil 1 will be around when my DII is due in a few weeks or so...

Never thought it would be difficult to find oil.

Nick

I heartily recommend AMSOIL 0w-30 (Series 2000) with their long life oil filter.

Anybody else run 0w-30?

Curious to hear thoughts or experiences.
Thinking about it but apprehensive.
Mobils web site actually gives that weight as an option.
Might not be bad in my neck of the woods, does get cold in the winter.

Regards,

Nick
