Are you talking about their Advanced Fuel Economy or their Racing oil? In the 0w-30.

I guess it's time to switch back to Royal Purple. I went with Mobil 1 because it was more widely available than RP but seems that is not the case anymore. I am impressed with how readily available RP has become. When I first started using it only specialty shops carried it. Amsoil was always the second most recommended oil for diesels to RP so I assume it is just as good in gas engines. I think Amsoil would be more popular if it were more available at auto parts stores and walmart. For filters, I use the K&N 3001 filter in my Disco.

I was at Walmart tonight to buy some, they only had 3 qts., and no M-1 filters. Stopped by Pepboys, they had the filter went w/ the longer M1-301, cost me $9.50 w/ my discount, regular price was $10.99. I went w/ Full Synthetic Valvoline 5W-30. It wascheaper than the other Synthetics. If someone thinks this is a mistake please let me know, b4 I do the oil change. I also bought the Lucas OilAdditive for Synthetic Oil.

The Mobil web site suggested Advanced Fuel Economy 0W-30 weight as an option.

Just not feeling real confident with that, not sur why.

Thanks

Cruzin-I wouldnt use the Lucus, if you need a oil additive then you need a new oil.

Just4fun-Unless your truck is parked outside all the time and it gets down well below zero at night I wouldnt use it.
And I really dont believe that the thinner oil is going to make any difference in your MPG.
Now if you had a Prius and you wanted to squeeze every last drop out of every gallon of gas, then yeah, use it.

Spike, you confirmed my thoughts exactly. Guess I just needed to hear it from someone else LOL

She is always in the garage and we might hit 0 ish in the coldest of winter around here (outside of Buffalo, NY)
BRRRR cold just thinking about it!

Think I will stick to the 5w-30

Thanks to all your input!

Regards,

Nick

I am using 5w40 in my Disco just because it was recommended for the widest temperature range according to my owner's manual.
