Moderator Approval: Transponder Key Solution
Been a while since I've had to post, but here's something new I learned. I came across an easy, no modifications required method to be able to have back-up keys without paying dealer prices or need to have fobs programmed. I will not, however post method until I get a "go" from a moderator, as I do not wish to be banned from site. The method "bypasses" transponder match, without disrupting normal transponder coil function. Using it I was able to make two sets of keys by simply having them cut like any normal old car. Total cost for two keys: $14
, your mileage may vary depending solely on cost to have keys cut. Will post details once given a green light.

You don't need to program remotes, as far as what I did, I have one key with remote (original, only key I had until today), one key without remote. Both will open doors, start car no problem. No fancy gadget equipment necessary, just cut keys.
All you're doing is making a copy of a key. I've been selling Ilco RV-4P key blanks to customers for years. All you're doing is adding a pretend remote fob that doesn't do anything at all. Frankly, I don't get how this could be a threat to the security of all of our DII's.
