Default Moisture behind headlights

I've got a 2003 LR Discovery SE7 and I have a persistent problem with condensation behind the plastic headlight covers (see attached photo). A few months ago I took everything apart, removed the bulbs and let the cover dry but after about a week the moisture was back. Is it the seal around the bulbs??

Thoughts? Cheers.

Jason

Mine did the same thing about 4 months ago, I removed the light and just dried it out with a hair dryer, have not had any problems since then.

So perhaps I didn't dry (remove) all the moisture the first time I tried?

This is a common issue with those style headlights. There should be some drain tubes on the back of the unit, it's possible they have become clogged and won't drain. Others have drilled small holes on the lens to let the water evaporate out. That wouldn't by the solution I'd want but if it works...

Check again for crack in the housing if you find some, try applying some plastic plumbing glue. If you find no cracks, apply some synthetic grease on both sides of the seal around the bulbs. After completely drying the lights of course !!!

Supposedly there is a seal kit to fix this problem, but I have not seen it.
Maybe somebody else knows what I am talking about and can post a link or something.

I gotta jump on the band wagon. Drilling a hole will not affect the operation of the lights. I've done it on personal and company vehicles for many years. Drill at the lowest part of the headlight.

Drill a hole on the highest part of the headlight too so that you get a cross flow of air.
When the water evaporates it will go up, when it condeses it will pool at the bottom.
I too have done this on other cars.

Good call! Thanks, I didn't think of that.
