I've used my press, but a big c-clamp works great and I actually like it better because if any of the needle bearings slip when you are fitting the cap, you will quickly feel the resistance. A press (or hammer) won't give you any feedback until it's too late.

I'm also in the height of this storm. We're getting pummeled down here. The wind gusts are 60+, and since we are right on the edge of the rain/snow line, the snow is super heavy. All you can hear outside is cracking sounds followed by heavy thuds as all of the 70 to 90 ft. white pines topple. Power went out over three hours ago and the crews aren't even going to head out until the storm is over. I have a generator but I hope this doesn't last too long. Running a generator all week at $30+ per day in fuel gets old in a hurrry. It's even worse than my Rover!

I pretty much just use my vice for installing new ones, the press for removing the old ones.

You don't need to pound the crap out of a yoke to mess it up. One misplaced blow or a tad harder then you meant and you've deformed it to the point you can't the bearing cup in.

That's the problem with youtube, anyone can post anything, people see it, and then think that's the way to do it.

Damn I miss New England

Hard to explain how I did everything but basically I ensured that each end of the joint slid easily into their respected caps easily. I also added extra grease to the inside of each cap and made sure the pins where positioned where they should be before I put everything together. Honestly I did not have any problem with install the joint itself. But once the u-joint was fully installed it was alittle to tight so I gave each end of the yolf afew love tabs to release the pressure and ensured that the joint moved easily as it should before installing the shaft back into the truck.

Only thing I hard a hard time with was removing the genuine LR snap rings. Did not have the special curved tip needle nose pliers and a standard needle noise plier did not work so I have to improvise but eventually I figured it out.

I just watched the whole video. It was worse than I thought. What's really crazy is he was resting the yoke on his vice while he was doing all the hammering.
I watched one of his others and see he also doesn't know how to grease a u-joint. I was pretty sure he didn't since he also didn't grease it before installing it like you should. Watching the other video confirmed it.
