Default The most annoying rattle ever

My glove box started sounding like there was a little man chained up and throwing a fit inside there, chains chinkling like crazy! At first I thought it was the lock, but it's fine. I narrowed it down to the metalic upper crossbar behind the dash (the latch strike bracket is bolted to it). For now I've folded up some paper and wedged it up there to silence the racket. I was wondering if anyone else has had this annoying problem and if you were able to do something more permanentthan stuffing paper up there? It seems like maybe there are some mounting bolts loose or something, but it's really hard to see exactly whats going on behind the dash.

With the air bag in that area, I wouldn't suggest you try and find the problem.

good point! hadn't thought about that...haha, wouldn't that be a bad hair day! I guess I'll just have to keep extra paper handy in the glove box.

I folded a piece of paper several times till it was about the size and thickness of 2 or 3 quarters stacked. Then, with the glovebox open, shoved it up between the plastic dash and the metal cross bar where the latch is located. It's right up inside the upper mouth of the glovebox opening, just below and behind the fake wood trim.

Hasn't rattled since, but it's only been about 600 miles.

Just find some thin rubber sheeting (or silicone) and put a bit of goop on it and stick it in and it will absorb the vibration and stay in place.
