Default Muffler and silencer

So yesterday was hearing some banging around under the 04 disco I go look and my pipe from the big silencer to the muffler completely snapped off. No difference in sound at all. Which begs the question why they put a muffler on these ??
I was thinking buying a new silencer and getting a shop to pipe it out from there
Any thoughts ?

I've got just the silencer on my 04 with no muffler. Then the other D2's have no silencer and a magnaflow muffler. LR made em quiet so RR owners would buy em lol. I personally gotta let the V8 be a V8!

ya that muffler is useless, it’s actually a straight pipe with some stuff around it. I looked inside it today

Magnaflow is what I have on the P38. Like Best says, it sounds like a V8. I’ll eventually do the same to the Disco but the muffler is in perfect condition…
