My 99 D2 Harvey Update:
Well as many of you know I had to use my 99 D2 to the extreme during Hurricane Harvey and I drove it thru water that came up to the windshield wipers for a few seconds (when idiots passed right by me.... and caused our bow waves to collide into each other). I never got water inside my D2, it never sucked in any water thru the 100% stock intake, and the only issue after all that deep water crossing was a flaky CPS that Abran took care of by sending me one for free.
Well it's been a good while now since my 99 D2 had to drive thru all of that. I paid 1500.00 for it, and it's been the most solid, reliable, well maintained D2 I've ever owned and it so proved it's worth during Harvey. Of coarse after Harvey I checked both diff's for water, the oil, the transfer case, the transmission, and every single thing had ZERO water in it!!!! Heck when I owned 05 Jeep Wranglers it was completely normal to drive thru 1-1.5ft of water and have mochachino diff oil..... The only thing that had water in it was the front/rear drive shaft U-Joints (pumped fresh grease into them until nothing but new grease came out & what a mess that made...). I've been driving it and everything has been just like it was before Harvey.
Now for the funny part. I know a lot of people that own Chevy, Dodge, Ford, Jeep, Toyota, and Nissan's. After the storm they bragged about their vehicles toughness, but one by one they started having issues, and sadly out of all my friends in the area I am the only one still driving around that hasn't had to take it in for any issues after Harvey. They've had stuff like wheel bearings go out, brakes locking up, hard shifting transmissions, to even one friend getting a nearly full tank of water in his gas tank..... This is all in trucks/SUV's costing up to 12 times the price of my 99 D2!!
My father in law owns a Ford Raptor and he didn't even want to drive it thru 1ft of water because he has issues with the front diff turning into mochachino from just having it washed at an automatic car wash & his 4WD is completely INOP........
I never plan on driving thru crap like that again, but I am extremely happy with my 99 D2 and knowing what it can take in stock form = amazing.
Also the area is getting back on it's feet slowly. People are finding out just how sneaky insurance companies are along with FEMA (I've been thru Rita/Ike so sadly I know how it goes). The Astro's then played one heck of a World Series and won. I'm not into sports, but that game 5 I think it was that lasted 5.5hr was amazing.

Thanks for thinking about me. It means a lot especially during that horrific storm.
CV joints would be a concern to me, and front hubs. Those CV boots get mighty dry rotted over time and may not hold water out around clamp ends. Use to pull the hubs off my old 92 Jimmy and shoot lube down inside...they lasted for over 300K.

Yep I thought of that, but they were replaced by the previous owner at one point and look brand new. When I did the brakes on it after buying it the new shaft ends & shiny new axle nuts were dead giveaways & when I looked at the CV boots I found them looking new.
