where you stationary when you tried? the only way i can get mine in low is to be in neutral but rolling forward at 1-2 miles an hour... just in neutral rolling very slowly and it goes right in... sometimes...

Are you saying you can't shift into low or either of the lock positions?
Do you not shift it often, if not, it will freeze up and you may want to have a mechanic go in and free up your linkage.
In the mean time don't force it, the linkage bill bend or brak.
