Default My Disco is dead in kissimee florida

Hey Guy's, hope someone can help me. I have a 95 Disco with 154,000 miles, just replaced the thermostat all hoses and the expansion tank. The other day I went to start it up and it would not turn over, had it towed to a mechanic here in florida and he said the starter had gone bad which i just had put in 90 days ago and he said the distributor fell apart in his hand. So i get a new starter for free he gets it started but suggests a new distributor, timing belt and to have the computer recalibrated by the dealer, total for his work would be $2000. I drove it home to think it over, it has driven with a hesitation for a week now and just today the same problem started, it will not start. Does what he saying sound right I have just moved here and I dont't have my usual mechanic good LR mechanics in this area. Thanks for your help!!

So, how fast can you find another mechanic, one who may not be trying to get into your pants?
Distributors just don't fall apart unless he didn't remove it properily. If it is now junk, do a search and find a good guaranteed used one, get it installed and you'll probably see the rest of his ideas are Bull S--T.
