i have a 2000 disco 2 with a snorkel and 3 in lift, but lately when i had been muddin or wading through water it will stall when i get out. it seems to feel like the engine is under idleing and wants to quit on me when i hit the gas. could it be a wet muddy alternetor?

 

How deep is the water? I have handled 3 feet of water with no issues. Do you get a check engine light, what does it take to restart it?

 

I don't think it's the alternator. You're pretty vague though...How deep is the water? How long are you in the water and is it soaking or splashing the engine pretty good? Does it always happen just when you go in water, or just mud too? How long does it take for the hesitation to stop after it starts? What were you doing when it first started?

 

the check engine light is reading 02 sensors and that always happens , when i clear it it just happens again 2 days later even if the m.a.s is brand new. the water was only 2 to 3 feet and now its stalling when i put it in reverse on the roads. it also idles between 800- 100 rpms fluctuating up and down on its own like its struggling.

 

It is not alternator or any thing in the engine compartment. I power wash my engine at lest once a month with no problems.
Sounds like you may have gotten water in the trannt control unit and it should be taken into a shop to be fixed.

 

I think Mike is right. I was gonna point the tranny too.
