My First Brake Job
Well guys, I did it, I did my first brake job on my Rover, and I must say, holy moly, what a job. First off, everything ran smoothly, until I had to remove the hubs because I was installing new rotors, I didn't know that most of the tools I needed are not that easy to come by. the only real problem that I ran into was removing the emergency brake ring, that was pretty rusted in there, it took some pounding but it did come free without breaking.
I have worked on a lot of my own cars and trucks in the past, have done many brake jobs and I found that doing this job even though not easy wasn't all that bad, everything was easy to reach and easy to remove and replace. A lot of people have told me that is was one of the biggest mistake I ever made buying a Land Rover because of the cost of repairs, well in the first place if you do the work yourself you are going to save a butt load of money, second, shop around for parts, and it is better to buy the kits that are available.
Back in 1988 I owned a 1975 Chevy short box 4x4 and I spent a lot more money each year in repairs then I have on my Rover, Rover might cost a bit to repair, but it holds up longer I think. Although I don't punish it like I did my Chevy, I still think that it is a well built, and worth the money.

Landdaddy,
That's good to know. About a year ago I replaced my break pads, the job went very well. I wish the admin would setup a DIY section so users can take pics and create DIY so other users can see the steps.
